POTENTIAL ENERGY

 Energy possessed by an object due to its position is called as potential energy. 

Potential energy is acquired by a body due to the work done by the body against any force. It will be stored in that body and will be released when that body changes its position 

Examples of potential energy 

1)


Water stored in a dam has high potential energy ,that why when shutters of the dam are opened water flow with high intensity(potential energy of stored water if converted to kinetic energy when it flows while opening the shutters)

2)


Apples hanging in an apple tree posses potential energy due to gravitational pull of the earth. Apples are hanging at certain height from the earth, so they are always attract towards earth due to gravity. This gravitational energy is stored as potential energy.

3)

A stretched arrow in a bow stores potential energy because of stretched rope. When arrow is released, potential energy stored is converted to kinetic energy and start moving.

  In colloidal solutions particles are uniformly spread throughout. Due to small size of particles, colloids appears to be a homogeneous mixture but it is a heterogeneous mixture. A colloid contains a dispersion phase and a dispersion medium. Dispersed particles in colloid is known as dispersion phase and component in which dispersion phase is suspended is known as dispersion medium. Colloids are classified based on difference in state of dispersion medium and dispersion phase. ACCELERATION

 Acceleration is defined as rate of change of Velocity.  Ie, acceleration = change in Velocity/time Consider a body moving with an initial velocoty(u) reaches a final Velocity (v) in time (t). Hence velocity is charged from u to v at time t  body is accelerating. Acceleration ( a ) = change in Velocity/ time a = v - u/t Unit of acceleration is m/s² There are two types of acceleration  1. Positive acceleration  If the Velocity of a body is increasing with respect to time(body is increasing the speed) then the acceleration is considered to be Positive.  2. Negative acceleration (retardation) If the Velocity of a body is decreasing with respect to time ( body is reducing the speed), then the acceleration is considered to be negative.  It's also called as retardation.

 House hold electric circuit The pictorial representation of household electric circuit is given in the below diagram. Tree system  Generally, for the household connection two lines are taken from the distribution system as shown in the diagram. Starting from the left hand side of the diagram, one red and one black line connection is provided to a house, red line represent live line or phase line and the black line represent neutral line. Initially they are connected to watt hour meter which is used to measure the current used in that particular house for billing purposes.
