KINETIC ENERGY
Energy processed by a moving object is generally called as kinetic energy.
Every moving object have kinetic energy and it depends on the mass and velocity of that moving object. If the body is at rest its kinetic energy is zero, because velocity of a body at rest is zero.
ie, Kinetic energy of a body is proportional to mass and velocity of the body. So the mathematically equation to calculate Kinetic energy is
Kinetic energy = 1/2 × mass × velocity
K.E = 1/2 MV
SI unit is joul(J).
Examples for kinetic energy
- A car moving with certain velocity (speed)
- Coconut falling down from a Coconut tree
- A kicked football
